Yummy Doh is launching a new value pack of ready-to-bake cookie dough at Metro grocery stores. Each 700 g box holds two 350 g rolls, in Chocolate Chunk or Confetti Party, so you can bake up to 24 cookies with no mixing and no mess.
We made it for families who shop at Metro, the ones who want warm cookies on a Tuesday night without pulling out the mixer or washing three bowls. Just slice and bake. And with Halloween just around the corner, we’ve put together a few ideas to turn those rolls into a little family moment around the table.
Yummy Doh Ready-to-Bake Cookie Dough, From Roll to Oven
Ready-to-bake cookie dough is dough that’s already mixed and shaped into a roll, so you simply slice it, place it on a baking sheet and bake. With Yummy Doh, there’s no bowl to wash and nothing to measure. The dough goes straight from the roll to the oven.
It’s printed in big letters right on the box. No mixing, no mess.
Yummy Doh cookie dough is a Canadian product. The new format joins the Yummy Doh product family, alongside our vegan Cookie Dough Pucks.
Up to 24 Cookies in One Box
The Yummy Doh value pack contains 700 g of dough, split into two 350 g rolls. Each roll makes 12 cookies, so one box bakes up to 24. You can bake both rolls at once for a party, or one at a time throughout the week.
Two rolls, two batches. For a family of four, that’s six cookies each, or a few fewer if someone sneaks one before supper. One roll for Monday’s lunch boxes, the other for Friday movie night, squeezed onto the couch under the same blanket.
Two Trendy Flavours at Metro
The Yummy Doh value pack comes in two flavours: Chocolate Chunk and Confetti Party. The first bakes into a classic cookie loaded with big chocolate chunks. The second bakes into a golden cookie sprinkled with colourful confetti that looks like a party before it even leaves the oven.
Purists head straight for Chocolate Chunk. Kids usually point at Confetti Party before they’ve even taken their coats off. And both are easy to decorate, which comes in handy in October.
Baking Temperature and Time for Yummy Doh Cookie Dough
Bake Yummy Doh cookie dough at 325°F (160°C) for 10 to 12 minutes. Slice each roll into 12 even rounds and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet about 5 cm (2 in) apart. The cookies are ready when the edges turn golden.
Love a soft centre? Pull the tray at 10 minutes. Prefer them crispy? Wait the full 12. Then let them rest 5 minutes on the tray before moving them to a rack, just long enough for the smell to bring the whole house into the kitchen.
According to the Yummy Doh FAQ, baked cookies keep up to two weeks in an airtight container and up to three months in the freezer.
Halloween Activities With Cookie Dough
Cookie decorating is the easiest Halloween activity to set up with ready-to-bake cookie dough. Bake the cookies ahead of time, then set up an icing and candy station on the table where every kid can create their own monsters. Plan for about 30 minutes of fun.
Pumpkins with orange icing, monsters with way too many eyes. The kids bring the ideas, and you bring the napkins. For a slightly bigger project, try our Cookie Dough Halloween Spider Cookies. Halloween falls on October 31. Keep your homemade creations for the family party rather than the trick-or-treat bags, since Health Canada advises throwing away homemade treats collected door to door and inspecting all treats before kids eat them. If you’re hosting friends, take a look at the ingredient list on the box and review Food Allergy Canada’s guidance.
Yummy Doh Halloween Mummy Cookies Recipe
To make mummy cookies, bake one roll of Yummy Doh Chocolate Chunk dough and let the cookies cool completely. Then all that’s left is to decorate them with strips of white icing and two candy eyes. The recipe makes 12 mummies and takes about one hour, cooling time included.
Ingredients
- 1 roll Yummy Doh Chocolate Chunk cookie dough (350 g / 12.3 oz)
- 125 g (1 cup) icing sugar
- 15 to 30 ml (1 to 2 tbsp) milk or plant-based beverage
- 24 candy eyes
Preparation
Preheat the oven to 325°F (160°C). Slice the roll into 12 rounds and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet, 5 cm (2 in) apart. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes.
Let cool 5 minutes on the tray, then 20 minutes on a rack. Be patient. A warm cookie melts the icing, and your mummies end up as puddles.
Meanwhile, whisk the icing sugar with 15 ml (1 tbsp) of milk. Add the rest of the liquid gradually, until the icing is thick and falls slowly from the spoon. Spoon it into a small freezer bag and snip off a 3 mm (1/8 in) corner.
Pipe zigzag lines from edge to edge on each cookie to mimic mummy wraps. Press on two candy eyes before the icing sets, then let harden for 15 minutes.
Extra-indulgent option
Turn your mummies into sandwiches. Spread 15 ml (1 tbsp) of Yummy Doh raw cookie dough on a plain cookie, then top with a mummy. This dough is safe to eat unbaked because it’s made with heat-treated flour.
